I whole heartedly agree with the other review. Not only is the food unbelievable but the owner is devastatingly a handsome and charming Italian man named Sony who actually does a lot of the cooking himself. In the midst of all the North End tourist traps full of over priced over cooked fettuccini hides this charming eatery. I just returned home from several days in Boston and I have been raving about my meal at Il Villaggio ever since. I had a splendid seafood risotto, probably the best I've ever had, and a simple but excellent green salad. First off, it was obvious that the risotto was cooked especially for me, not something that was prepared en masse. Second, the seafood was incredibly fresh and generous. There was a lovely mound of risotto made with spinach and fresh mushrooms in the center of the plate. Hiding in the rice were several large succulent scallops. Surrounding the rice were 3 huge prawns, and the perimeter of the plate was lined with mussels. The meal was delicious, beautifully prepared and presented, and very reasonably priced. My daughter also enjoyed her plate of freshly made gnocchi. Unfortunately this was our last day in Boston, otherwise we would have been back the next evening to try out other dishes. - anonymous, 02/28/2002
