This 221-foot obelisk commemorates the Battle of Bunker Hill, which took place in 1775 and was the first battle in Boston. It affords a spectacular view of Boston and the Harbor Islands atop the 294-step observatory. Exhibits open 9 am - 5 pm, monument daily 9 am - 4 pm. Free, - alotta, 10/09/2001
