Duke's is one part lounge, one part lodge, and completely comfortable. Knotty pine plank walls, white leather seating, low ambient light and an attentive staff provide an easy haven for Duke's soon-to-be regulars. Contributing to the decidedly organic atmosphere is the retro motion lightbox above the bar which showcases a cascading forest stream. The dual flatscreens on either side regularly feature classic films and, on especially cold Chicago evenings, a roaring fireplace. The atmosphere is tastefully fueled by the diverse sounds of acid jazz, soul, randb and electronica, at a volume that's vibrant - but never too loud. If atmosphere wasn't enough (and it is), the food is outstanding. Duke's specialty is a 1/2 lb. Certified Angus hamburger - one of the very finest in Chicago. The menu features 20+ variations on the theme, including the Hawaii Burger, and the Surf and Turf Burger complete with lobster tail. Other menu items include Turkey, Veggie, and Chicken substitutes.
