A long alley leads to the entrance of one of Chicago's best progressive nightspots. A long granite bar serves up the gin and tonics, while the DJ spins a great mix of alternative and industrial tracks. On many occasions, the patrons on the dance floor are an act in themselves.

I used to hang & worked at Neo in the 80s. It was definietly a place I will always remember as my second home. I saw many things there I never saw any where els or since. NEO- Still good to know that despite changes in the music & fashion, one ov the clubs that was there & STILL here is still NEO. Love knowing that the music formats change along with the night & dj's, but variety is what makes this club still special. The staff is kinda like family(some ov them) & even if you don't belong, 'clotheswise' you can still come in & have a fun time. - Nancy n, 04/19/2006

I lived in Chicago for 26 yrs. then like an imbicile I moved to a little Po-Dunk town in Wisconsin. It is quite culturally deficient, & despite going in the wilderness, nothing to do. Folks, when I was ten they opened this place. I remember it well. A whole line of freaks going down the block ... excellent! Those were the days when the risque'est thing in the area was Rocky Horror at the Biograph ... well the public things, anyway. Have been down recently. Every year there is a rumor about Neo closing. I can tell you that this may be strewn by the owner's to pump the anniversary show, or by disgruntled friends and ex-patrons. But, in truth, it is still there and going strong. Neo is the only club where you can dance and feel free.Its the only club that I know of where you can express your individuality.Neos is one of the best clubs around, you can dance for hours straight it`s dark and the atmosphere makes it easier to dance.The club gives you an adrenaline high that you can feel for hours. - Aimee, 08/30/2003
What a kick to discover my old favorite chicago club is still alive and well. Haven't been around for years. I was going thru clothes in the attic and found my old NEO jacket. we are talking 1979-80! Fond memories made it hard to part with I suppose. - jj, 08/30/2003

Dark, Dark, Dark. Very gothy. Good music. Chris 'Rip Her to Shreds' Buchards and Dave Roberts were the best DJ's they ever had...long ago. Maybe Dave is still there? Dunno, it' s been awhile. Nice dark dance floor. I wonder if the little man in the white dress shirt and black pants who dances for several hours straight still shows up there? Or the guy with the breifcase and a mysterioso look on his face? Joyous Ennui! well thank god Neo doesn't seem to be closing anytime soon. I have to give Neo two thumbs up, it's probably on my top 3 list, and that's saying alot comming from a guy who all into 70's and hippie jam bands. Very cool vibe like something out of the crow 2 or the Doom Generation. It's cool that you'll see one person preped out and another totally goth (they are in the magority). The set up is really cool and not to crowded, its unusually cold too. The people are a good time but you can tell there are a few who take themselves too serriously. The music got better as the night went on and they stoped playing that Depeche Mode crap and started kicking Ramstein and Peter Murphy...good stuff. - cougar, 08/19/2000
