My friend and I went to the new Pops Jazz Club a few weeks ago and the verdict is still out. Positives: Friendly greeter at the door, nice staff in general, $10 which is totally worth it considering the quality of musicians, nice bathrooms with easy access. Minuses: A slight basement rec room vibe w/no windows and a low ceiling, carpet squares on the stage (cheesy!), walls behind the bandstand are bare and we were distracted by the humongous vent going through one of them. We saw a trio consisting of vocalist, guitarist, and bassist and wondered how the room would hold up to harder-hitting groups. Time will tell; I hope the room finds its one personality because right now it seems to be a bit schizophrenic. - Babs, 12/27/2006
I am really impressed with 'Pops for Champagne!' Though I've never frequented the establishment. Viewing it on television two weeks ago was a pleasure. - Malcolm R Jennings, 01/17/2001
