Detail for St. Patrick's Day - South Side Irish Parade : Mar 9 2008 - Mar 9 2008 6:00PM
Parade steps off on 103rd and S. Western Ave. and runs south on Western to 115th St. - Alotta, 02/02/2005
Parade starts at noon, at 111th and Western. Marching bands, floats, fire trucks, motorcycles, singers and more! Parking: Parking west of Western is best ... but plan your escape route carefully! When stuck at an intersection without a light, you could wait up to thirty minutes to get out. There are a few portable restrooms along the route - lines can be quite long. Insider tips from JB: The East side of Western is dry. All bars are on the West side. Thatmakes the East side more family-oriented; West side better for hearty partiers. Beverly Covenant Church, 10545 S. Claremont (1 block East of Western at 106th Street) is open during the parade. They offer free rest rooms as well as a place to warm up (very welcome, based on current forecast of 40 degrees and rainy). Truly no charge, although contributions to their youth ministry fund are always welcome. - Alotta, 03/06/2007
