Conductor Kirk Muspratt and New Philharmonic Orchestra invite music lovers to 'Revolutionary Russians,' the final concert of the orchestras 30th anniversary season, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28, at the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn. The program focuses on works by Russian composers Igor Stravinsky and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, both of whom were heavily influenced by traditional Russian folk and fairy tales. - wm, 04/21/2007

The concert will begin with 'Kirks Klassical Boot Kamp,' Muspratts newest way of sharing with the audience insights about the origins of the music they are about to hear. Stravinskys Petrouchka will be the focus of the Boot Kamp. Originally written as a ballet, the composition tells the story of a Russian puppet, Petrushka, who comes to life and falls in love with a human dancer. Muspratt will introduce the themes and characters of Petrouchka using actors and dancers to illustrate key elements of the story. Audience members also will be able to ask questions. Immediately following the interactive session, the orchestra will perform the entire suite. - wm, 04/21/2007

The April concert is the culmination of New Philharmonics 30th anniversary season, celebrating three decades as DuPage Countys professional orchestra. Tickets to the performance are $33 for adults, $31 for seniors and $23 for students and patrons under 17. Group rates are available for parties of 15 or more. For tickets, call (630) 942-4000 or visit www.atthemac.org. - wm, 04/21/2007
