Excellent soups & sandwiches. - sys, 12/26/1999

This popular Lakeview spot features Kosher Jewish favorites such as mish-mash soup, daily soups, two-fisted sandwiches, and more. Dine in and carryout available; open for all-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner; BYO. - Alotta, 11/21/2003

belden deli was a lot better. - anonymous, 08/14/2007

The first review couldn't be more wrong. It's a great place to go for hearty and cheery Jewish food. The servers are extremely nice, prompt and funny. Lastly, it is a Chicago style deli, not a deli in Chicago trying to be like a NY deli. The second review couldn't have been more correct. The bread is amazing. Nothing about the portions they give you are small. - S. Peterson, 11/28/2001

The only reason the doors are open in this place is because it's about the only claiming to be a New York style deli in Chicago. There might be a little NY kitsch in having the hostess and waitstaff be as rude as possible to you, but if you're looking for a palatable meal, you won't find it here. I've given them a few chances, and the small-portioned sandwiches are awful. Stringy, grisly pastrami and fatty corned beef, and I couldn't finish the soup for the grease floating on top. With this kind of fare, I don't expect them to be open much longer - because I would be ashamed to run an establishment such as this. - George Powell, 04/02/2001

The bread and fresh pickles are a must. I love the Nova Lox platter for a nice weekend breakfast. Get there after 11:00 a.m. for the pickles and bread. The Soups are excellent and the skillet breakfasts are of huge proportion. - G W Hodges, 03/15/1999
