Formerly La Vita .. we will miss their pizza! - wm, 10/03/2010

The previous eatery here, La Vita, was a bit more refined, with white tablecloths and a more elegant decor. Davanti is a complete remodel, complete with exposed brick, plank flooring, and rustic Tuscan decor. We stopped by on a Monday, to find the place nearly full .. reservations are not accepted so we were lucky to get a table. Davanti's menu has mainly small plates ($5-13), so a party of two might order 5-6 plates for a decent meal. We started with the "ragu of the day" : Tomato sauce with polenta, and pork mixed in tableside .. delicious! Next, we order the squash dish, the pork/bacon dish, and the ravioli. All were decent - note that the ravioli is just a single large ravioli! We finished with the rigatoni with meat sauce, which was excellent. - wm, 02/07/2011

The wine list is decent, and features several Super Tuscans. We found one variety here for $55 that was $90 at Purple Pig. Service was top notch. Expect to pay about $100



per couple, including tip. The music, oddly enough, ranged from Jimi Hendrix to David Bowie. - wm, 02/07/2011
