Detail for La Sardine : Restaurant, French

Fine selection of bistro dishes including lamb and chicken. - sys, 12/26/1999

Enjoy classic bistro fare prepared with flair. Menu includes a satisfying pate dish served with beet salad, mushroom ragout served over mashed potatoes in a rich herb sauce, fresh fish options, and roast chicken served with an array of vegetables. An extensive wine list has something for everyone's price range. Save room for the warm chocolate cake! Open for lunch Mon - Fri; dinner served Mon - Sat. - Alotta, 09/26/2003

I have been to La Sardine a number of times, and have always had a good experience. It is run by the same people who run Le Bouchon, so you know the food is going to be delightful. It is larger than Le Bouchon, so it lacks that cozy charm, but it also lacks the long wait and difficulty with reservations. The service is very professional. All in all, a great restuarant to go to again and again. If price is an issue, go there on a Tuesday night, when they offer a fixed price of $20 for any starter, entree and desert. Quite a good value, and a chance to evaluate the restaurant for a more expensive night out. I recommend the souffle deserts ... you must order one with your entree because they take a long time to bake. You will not regret the souffle! - t sarro, 07/13/2003

I have had wonderful lunch and dinners at La Sardine. The service was impecable. It is definitely the place to be and to be seen. The Pastry chef and its recent offerings were awesome. We have had many of the lunch and dinner entres. The Service at times has been slow, never rude, over all it has been a pleasurable dinning experience. - anonymous, 06/02/2003

The food was fine, but the service was less than desirable at our recent visit. We ordered a salad and an appetizer. Before we had finished these fine dishes, the waitress came and literally snatched our plates away 'to make more room' for our entres which had come up (too soon) It was a really poor move. We also got a bad bottle of wine which we foolishly drank much of while disagreeing whether it was bad. We were not charged for it but were charged for a replacement glass of house wine which probably could have been gratis. Unfortunately or visit was capped off by an obnoxious diner at the neighboring table who talked in a loud voice about a variety of revolting medical conditions she and her companion had or were experiencing. Of course the last two weren't the fault of the restaurant, but it did sour our evening. - C. Locke, 10/09/2002
