Detail for L'Olive (closed) : Restaurant, Moroccan
Exotic Moroccan entrees; excellent mint tea. - sys, 12/26/1999
We found L'Olive to be a very good choice, with wonderful, remarkable dishes -- especially the humus nervana (humus with goat cheese and roasted peppers), bastilla djaj (baked chicken with rosewater, almonds, and cinnaon in pastry), shen (orange seven dates salad), and tangine zitoune (lamb with olives and preserved lemon). Delightful mint-tea was nicely served and added to the atmosphere. Our tastes couldn't readjust to some dishes -- the meat kabobs were powdered sugar sweet (and overly chewy); also disappointing was the couscous calamare, which we had long anticipated -- wonderful smell, but the spicing was not to our taste and the calamare rubbery. Local theaters make parking chancy, but restaurant has valet parking available. Negatives aside, the best dishes were extrordinary, and we plan to return. - Skip and Fran Landt, 02/19/2000
