The brainchild of Mia Francesca owner Scott Harris and his respected restauranteur friends, this contemporary Mexican dining room is richly painted in dark red and blue tones, and accented by brightly painted plaster animals suspended from the ceiling. The thoughtful, sensibly priced menu features outstanding appetizers: try the shredded pork and avocado salsa, or the masa cups which are filled with a pasilla chili sauce containing braised mushrooms. Plates include: enchiladas served with Oaxacan red mole or tomatillo sauce; a chiopotle- and ancho-braised lamb shank; and make-your-own-taco with wood-grilled chicken, mahi mahi, or steak, served with a jicaima pico de gallo and baked beans which have been beer smoked.
