Opened in a two-flat next to creator Stanley Balzekas' Archer Avenue auto dealership in 1966, it originally housed his personal collection of Lithuanian art and artifacts to preserve for generations to come. With many volunteers, staff, and donors, it quickly outgrew its space and was moved to its current location in 1986. - Alotta, 09/30/2003
