The Northern Illinois University Jazz Ensemble directed by Ron Carter will perform Thursday, February 1, at 7 PM in the Clarence Johnson Auditorium of North High School, located at 4436 Main Street in Downers Grove. The 19-member ensemble will provide a lively and fun concert for all ages. Guest trombone soloist will be Jiggs Whigham, an internationally acclaimed trombonist, band leader, and educator. Early in his career, he was soloist and first trombonist with Glenn Miller Orchestra and then Stan Kenton. He is currently conductor of the BBC Big Band in Great Britain and artistic director of the Berlin Jazz Orchestra. Doors open for the performance on Thursday, February 1 at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $8.00 adults/$6 students, and may be purchased at the door. Entrance to Downers Grove North High School and Clarence Johnson Auditorium is at the intersection of Main and Grant Streets.
