I've lived close to the Charcoal Oven for nearly 50 years, and had seen it from the outside many times, but it wasn't until two years ago that I finally stopped in for dinner following a performance at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts. It took me all this time to realize what I had been missing! They have an incredibly priced butt steak that rivals most any filet in flavor and tenderness, as well as a variety of other steaks, chops, ribs, and an excellent choice of seafood. All of the wonderful soups and salad dressings are home made, as well as many of the deserts Since I've made this wonderful discovery I can't go a month without a visit. The Charcoal Oven is a great throwback to the days of old. It is like one of the old supper clubs. It may not look like much on the outside and it will probably not be crowded, but the food is very good (esp. the butt steak and anything prepare in the traditional Greek style) and the ambience is great.
