Just been to Dixie Kitchen and Bait Shop for my fill of gumbo. Made with shrimp, chicken and Andouille sausage. The best gumbo in the Chicago area. I recommend the fried green tomatoes or the crawfish and corn fritters with jalapeno jelly for an appetizer. Their catfish dishes are also recommended. Wash it all down with a Dixie Voodoo beer!! Gumbo is absolutely terrific. Other selections range from good to fair. Ambiance is hokey. For the most part, service is good but there is one very, very rude, crude blonde waiter to be avoided at all costs. - Commodore, 02/05/2004
