Borne out of the concept of a large family kitchen, Kim Garza's bakery-cum-restaurant has become a place to feel like home amongst strangers. A 20-seat table is the centerpiece of this spot, opened first as a bakery and and later expanding into periodic 5-course themed dinners. Most items are prepared from scratch by Kim herself, and include sweets such as blueberry, chocolate, and ginger scones; fresh cupcakes and muffins, off-the-shelf cakes, and made-to-order special-occasion cakes. Breakfast dishes such as egg strada that can be purchased and thrown in the oven to feed at least 8 people are popular, and she does a brisk catering business. An example of a 5-course dinner, served family style, is a Southwestern-themed meal of seviche, stuffed jalapenos, tuna in cilantro vinaigrette, mousse, and cinnamon ice cream.
