Last night my husband, another couple, and I had one of our best dining experiences in quite a while. From the moment we were greeted by the professional staff we were treated royally and the service can only be described as on point. The atmosphere is as romantic as I had read and extremely comfortable. The four of us ordered different appetizers, different entrees and different desserts and we raved about each mouthful. No review can fully prepare you for the delights to be experienced at Va Pensiero. 'Italian Restaurant' conjures up images of checked tablecloths, Chianti, pizza and pasta and grated parmesean cheese - This is *not* your father's Italian restaurant! Think *gourmet* Italian restaurant. Think fine wines, gracious service, desserts that delight. Think 'Special Occasion' - occasions like your parent's 50th wedding anniversary, Graduation from Harvard, being Knighted by the Queen - yes - It's *that* special. This is easily one of the finest restaurants 'in' Chicago - it rivals, no, overshadows most of the establishments downtown. There are dishes for every taste here - beef eaters, fish, vegetarian can all walk away feeling catered to and not merely 'accomodated'.
