Stumps' has a unique and welcoming aura about it. Nestled in a Southwest Detroit neighborhood, Ken the owner, has made this neighborhood bar a 'destination' and attraction to those inside and outside the city limits. Pool is still $.25 and the 'Stump Burger and Polish Bagels' are reason enough to go there. A topnotch bar with old time appeal. - western1994, 03/03/2004

Stempien's Sidestreet Lounge is one of the best memories I have of Detroit, MI. In fact, I dreamed of the place just this week. Having left there in 1980 I'm delighted to see a website devoted to it. I learned to play pool there and enjoyed the pin-ball machine a great deal. Most of all I remember the family with great fondness. I hope the patrons can still savor the proud and cheerful devotion of father, brothers and friends as they shared kielbasa and other delights made by mom and shared with all they called friends. - Sharon B.
