Ever since Takashi left things have seemed to be going downhill. The prices have increased, but yet the portions have seemed to become smaller. It used to be one of the only fine dining restaurants that I would leave full from, but the two times I have gone this year I still feel a little empty when I left. The menu doesn't seem as imaginative and not all the combinations seem to work. I never thought I would say this, but I feel there are now better places to eat around Detroit then Tribute. - opmollymi, 10/30/2005

Be prepared to be swept away. I have dined here once a month every month in the past year and can confidently say that this level of sophistication and expertise exists nowhere else in Detroit. Go and sit at the feet of the master. This master, 'a young genius,' according to the Quarterly Review of Wines (which gave the restaurant its award for Best Meal of the Year), 'totally dedicated to doing his very best every day, and...also friendly, [and] humble,' will delight your senses with his novel French and Japanese creations. These use only the freshest of American ingredients from the best sources. (Think creamy Hudson Valley foie gras, flavorful Millbrook farm venison, delicate diver-harvested Maine scallops and you get the idea.) The service is flawless: a virtually seamless effort to elevate you out of the ordinary by a highly-trained and dedicated team of professionals. You will be in heaven before the night is over.
