    Detail for Eastern Market :

Fruits and vegetables, fresh meats and poultry, gourmet foods, wines and flowers are available at this open-air market. The market also hosts the annual fall event: Landscape Nursery Day. - sys, 03/30/2001

I seldom get the chance to be back in town; but when I do I always go to Eastern Market. Its a staple, a monument, living history- besides it just isn't all dolled-up with plastic, there are smells and sounds, music even. - localtime@yahoo.com, 08/13/2003

Flower day is may 18 - garden girlie, 05/16/2003

I have been going to Eastern Market for many years and after this past December will no longer go. The market now supports the selling of live animals, pigs included, under terrible conditions (animals are very cold, are placed live in very small boxes once sold) and vendors communicate (to mostly suburbanite customers, who hopefully know how to slaughter these animals humanely) 'I don't care what you do with the animals. Once you buy them they are yours' Eastern Market has always been a great place to visit and I have purchased wonderful fruits and cheeses there for years. I will not continue to support the market, however, until they no longer support such inhumane treatment of animals. - Deeply concerned, 02/08/2003

The Eastern Market has a lively atmosphere and should be a part of every Detroiter's life or their memories. Most of my friends never heard of it or thought that it has burned down. This historical part of Detroit should not evaporate from people's minds. One vital cause of this is the absence of advertising. Come on Detroit! This would also be an easier way to get funding from the taxpayers. Thank you. - Steve Sawicki, SOUTHFIELD, 03/16/2000
