Detail for Terminal Bar :

I went to the Terminal Bar for the first time this weekend to see Freeze Dried Fun and find it to be a pretty good venue. It's a small, rectangle-shaped building with the bar running along one side of room leading to a partially closed-off room featuring the stage. The room is only partially closed-off in the sense that there are four foot walls and pillars that make the open portion above the walls windows from the bar to the stageroom. The stage is small, but adequate and the tables are close enough to allow an intimate setting yet allow for some dancing space down front, as well. At first, I was a bit thrown that anyone that had to go to the bathroom had to walk directly in front of the stage and thus right in front of everybody while the band is trying to play. However, it simply seems to be part of the atmosphere. The place is small, the stage is small - but not in that bad way. When I say intimate, don't mistake it for Lionel Hutz's use of the word 'cozy.' I mean it in the enjoyable, I can see the band and the band can see me type of setting. There are some machines in the bar, like a pinball machine, seem to be taking up precious space. It isn't likely that you'll be playing pinball during a show; an extra table would be nice to have there. Also, I was aware there was a cover, but it wasn't clear where I was supposed to go to pay it. There isn't a clear table set up, and the only reason I knew who to pay was because as I was walking past him, a guy yelled to me, 'Hey! Right here!' Other than these small things, I'm a big fan of the Terminal Bar. A good, intimate setting for great local music. - Nate, 09/17/2001
