Going strong for over 40 years, this 10-day festival features about 40 events that highlight the city's lakes. Nearly a million residents and visitors participate in this annual festival that features a free kickoff party on Hennepin, complete with 3 stages of local bands and food and drink booths. Other events include parades, a Tennis Invitational, sailing regattas, outdoor concerts, water ski shows, senior activities, milk carton boat race, beach volleyball, sand castle competition, and a huge fireworks show. - Alotta, 02/07/2005
