Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This lively, artsy bistro offers a Gallic-influenced menu, often prepared with locally grown organic produce. An interesting place, this Barbette. Small, cozy and intimate, the interior offers a great opportunity to snuggle close to that someone special or have a nice conversation with a pal at the bar. Those adverse to smokine will be happy to know that it is no longer perimitted during the designated dinner hours. The food, however, can be hit or miss. Supposedly a French restaurant, there are usually only a few dishes that really harken to anything I would call Franco fare, and lately it seems as though the menu has gotten smaller, and a bit more expensive. You can't go wrong, though, with the decadent desserts. Service, at least in the past, was atrocious. At one point, after trying to get the attention of our server for 20 minutes, she ran over to us and exclaimed 'What do you want??' They seem to have gotten better, but on busy nights, it can still be a bit slow. An extensive wine and beer list makes this a nice place to meet friends, and perhaps munch on a few frites. Great wine, ambiance and service! The servers have worked there for quite some time and take pride in helping you explore their interesting menu. I haven't eaten there yet, but it's a great place for a date or a evening with a couple friends. Just sit, chat, sip on wine, sample the menu and take in the unique atmosphere. - Alissa, 01/28/2003
