I was at Eagle Street a week or so ago, and there was a businessman from South Africa in to visit, who also happened to be leaving for home the following day. It appeared as though he may have been in a couple of times during his stay in St. Paul, because when he came in, the bartender recognized him and welcomed him with a smile. The thing that struck me the most was not the fact that the bartender recognized him and greeted him, but that I overheard the business man tell the bartender that whenever he came in, that because of the welcoming atmosphere and friendliness, he felt as though he might have been at a pub in his own home town; a home away from home if you will. My favorite thing about Eagle Street isn't the food ( which is great-LOVE the Tuna Steak Sandwich ) or the spirits. It's the fact that I see scenarios like this often at Eagle Street, and I experience them myself whenever I visit, whether it be with other patrons, or the owners themselves, Kevin & Joe.
