I was excited to eat at The King and I restraint having read and heard great things about it. The atmosphere was pleasant and it was nicely decorated. However, what destroyed the experience for me and my family was the food. I am certainly no expert on Thai food, but having just eaten at True Thai (2627 E Franklin Ave, Minneapolis) the previous week I was expecting dishes with equal flavor and richness. The food was awful. We ordered Pad Thai with Chicken and The King and I fried rice with BBQ pork. In both dishes the meat was over done, rubbery, and certainly not BBQed. The rice tasted as if it had come from a box and too was overdone. I would understand if this was Perkins attempt at Thai food, but I had paid nearly $15-20 per dish for this food! I would certainly not recommend this restaurant to anyone. - ATJohnson4, 05/05/2007
