Impressively located atop St. Anthony Hill, this classical Renaissance-style cathedral was constructed from 1906 - 1915. The interior took an additional 40 years to complete, and includes several stained-glass windows by renowned artist Charles J. Connick. An ambulatory located behind the altar houses the exquisite Shrines of the Nations, with walls covered in Botticino marble as well as the marble imported from the country of each saint. Many other shrines, statues, and beautiful artwork by local and nationally renowned artists are visible throughout the entire sanctuary. - sys, 09/25/2002
