Detail for Tanjore : Restaurant, Indian
Friends of mine told me about Tanjore and how it has been their favorite Indian restaurant in Cambridge. I decided to try Tanjore for myself and must say that I was very impressed. The menu is very different from that of other Indian places and offers dishes from South India which wasnít surprising. (Tanjore is a smallish city in the Southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu synonymous for a style of painting). The variety on the menu is super. Mainstay dishes from South India and good ones from North India are both on the menu. The appetizers are also pretty good. The Samosa Chaat, Rasam Vada was the ones we tried and really enjoyed. I was delighted to find a dish like Chettinad Chicken on the menu, an intricate recipe and thoroughly enjoyed it. To make things better, the Chettinad Chicken was served not only with White Basmati Rice but also a side of Yellow Daal Ė delish! The dosas (crepes) were good and authentic. I canít wait to go back and try other dishes. The staff/servers
are friendly and we liked the ambience a lot. Highly recommended. Tanjore is a small city in Southern India synonymous for a style of painting where art works are adorned with gold. - Highlander, 03/25/2006
