    Park Hotel Shiodome

During our two visits to Tokyo, we stayed at the Park Hotel in Shiodome.

The rooms are a bit smaller than the typical American hotel room - but nice. Rates run in the $200 range for an average room.

Internet access (free) is provided via an ethernet jack near the TV.

Coffee packets with pot, hair dryer, and a safe are included with all rooms.

Soap: bar soap is not included - bring your own! We stopped at a Donki (convenience store) to buy some, and could not find it.

Each morning an American-style breakfast buffet is set up in the lobby ($27 approx).

In the lobby during the evening, you might find a live combo or pianist playing smooth jazz.

The lounge in the hotel specializes in "New York" style drinks, which did not interest us, as we wanted to experience more local specialties. There is a French restaurant, also near the lobby - which we skipped for the same reason.

Important: There must be over a dozen Park Hotels in Tokyo .. when taking a cab, mention Park Hotel at Shiodome. Also, carry the a printed map of the directions in Japanese, provided by the web site:
Park Hotel Directions

Walking to destinations is easy from Shiodome. Exit on level 1, look for steps to your right as you exit the building. Walking up the steps, veer left, towards the funky clock (TV Station). Walk past the clock and veer left for access to the JR Shimbashi station. There is a door on the right which leads to the walkway leading to City Center. If you see the Subway (sub shop) you are in the right place. Walk through the hall, past the Indian restaurant, down the escalator. On the ground level you can exit the revolving doors (near Chuo Dori / street) or, you can access the elevators for the 41st floor bars and restaurants.

If you can find Chuo Dori - you are in good shape, walking north on this street provides easy access to Ginza trains and Marouchuni trains.

To access the Hamarikyu Gardens, exit on level 1, look for steps to your right as you exit the building. Walking up the steps, veer left, towards the funky clock (TV Station). Now, walk away from the clock, once you see it, and veer towards the Conrad Hotel. Continue on the walkway down to the sidewalk and go under the Tokyo Expressway. You should see the entrance to the park off of Shin-Ohashi Dori.
